Hello, I’m Brandon Hornickle, and this is my personal page. I designed and built this website using Hugo, a powerful static site generator that converts markdown files into fast, efficient HTML pages. The code and media files are hosted on GitHub, and the site is deployed through Cloudflare Pages, ensuring quick, reliable delivery to visitors.

While I have experience working with dynamic websites, which you can read about on my Blog, I chose to build my personal portfolio as a static site for several reasons. Static sites load quickly by serving content directly from content delivery networks (Cloudflare’s in this case), ensuring an optimal user experience. They are also more resilient, requiring minimal infrastructure, reducing vulnerability to server outages. Additionally, because this website is entirely self contained within a Git repository, I can easily push updates or even pivot to a different hosting solution by typing in a few terminal commands.

Ultimately, the way this site is constructed reflects my commitment to simplicity, efficiency, and long-term usability in both my projects and my career. I hope you enjoy exploring the work I’ve showcased here, and feel free to reach out if you’d like to collaborate.
